Favourite thing about my job: I love teaching children, families and school staff about how different sounds are made in our mouths and teaching them to feel where sound is coming from. Speech therapy is more fun when everyone is making silly faces and sounds.
Favourite resource: My pack of multisyllabic cards. I love using these to play with sounds, make silly words and learn more about all the different sounds we can combine to make words. This can help develop how sounds are stored in a child’s head and is invaluable for learning to read and write.
Fun fact: I lived and worked in Japan for many years so I can read and speak Japanese. I also have a stammer which is one of the reasons why I wanted to become a speech and language therapist.
